Asami Tanaka Guide Pt. 2 – Her glorious underlings

In this part of the guide, I am going to cover the Oni models available to Asami as hires and summons. In a later part, I will cover models outside of the Oni characteristic. As always, I welcome all feedback and comments - questions get me all kinds of excited because I love talking about this crazy ass game we all love!
Totems
Who's a cheeky little demon?

Amanjaku (3ss) – Asami’s thematic totem, this little fella is packed full of character and provides a range of purposes on the board. DF 6 is delicious, as is his WK and Cg of 6. Insignificant as expected, but with Disguised and Manipulative 13, he hangs around longer than he ought to.
He provides two attach actions:
(1) Trickster’s Claws – (Mi 5 Ma, Rst Df) – 1/2/3 damage spread. The kicker here is that he gains a bonus to his damage track equal to the VP your opponent has (max +2). Having your totem dishing out min 3 damage is just lovely
J
(1) A Taste Of Life – (Ca 5, Tn 14, Rst WP, Rg 6) – select a Condition on the target and increase the value by 1. The high target number and low cast value discourages you using it on an opponent, but this is handy in a pinch if you need to give one of Asami’s summons another turn of life.
Tactical Action:
(0) Onwards Into Night – Ca 5 Tn 10Cr – Until the end of the Turn, Sh Attack Actions that target models within 6A suffer a negative. Extremely helpful against shooting crews by providing models with a little bit of protection as they shuffle up the board.
Overall: If I am taking a totem into the match, then it is this fella. I can see the appeal in the Kamatachi, but this guy just provides so much for the crew that he is hard to go past. Take him, love him and embrace the look on your opponent’s face when you tell them he has hit for min 3 damage.

Schill out, Dick Wad

Ok, alright, yes etc...

So attended a tournament called Faux Roads on the weekend run by the lovely James Munro.

Before I get into bleating about Von Schill, I would just like to throw a shout out to all the fellas that where there. Not in a long time have I been in a room with as many men (well aside from my friday nights ;) ) with just such a bloody good vibe happening. There was bull shit and banter shooting every which way, which was honestly, so good! Also props to our very own Corey Leslie for taking away the win!

I will also note I won 2 games with Von Schill (against another Schill crew and Yan Lo) and lost to Corey by a point (against an Asami/Yas shenaningry crew). So fear not if you think I'm butt hurt in some way :P...

Anyway, onto the bleating....

Blast from another Past: Revisionist thoughts on Reva

Coming to ease you into the death.....

**Note: Since writing this I've played even more games with Reva (can post a WDL record if you'd like ;) ). But in all honesty I must say in the last 3 months, my thoughts on her haven't really changed from here, so it still is quite relevant! Anything in red are additions and thoughts I've had while re-reading the article**

So a fair few more Reva games under my belt, a pair of small tournament wins, and in all honesty I’ve come to the conclusion that she is pretty rude.

Like in your face offensive. I feel this will certainly lessen a large amount when people are aware of her schtick, which is horrid damage at range, but at the moment, she is just plain rude.

Managed to only lose her once (Now thrice, but losing Reva does not mean losing the game, for those playing at home) so far (there has been a few close calls though!!) through a fool-hardy charge and forgetting about Bete Noire. But outside of that game and some of my early ones, she will happily kill a master or henchmen a turm (given good cards, or if you have Yin’d them first).
I’ll briefly chuck down some revised thoughts on Reva’s loadout and the use of Vincent as well as going through my usual (and really only) go-to picks that support her.

Asami Tanaka Guide Pt. 1

Asami Tanaka, Ten Thunders Master

Asami Tanaka is the Ten Thunders’ Wave 4 master who brings something to the faction that they have never had – a dedicated summoning master. Built around her synergy with the Oni, Asami provides a brilliant blend between summoning minions for any occasion, supporting those minions and her crew hires, and supporting her crew to squeeze out every last piece of AP potential available to them.

In this section, I am really going to look at Asami as a whole, plus her ability to do strats and schemes. In a later piece, I will cover her crew options, but you will notice a few names keep popping up throughout this piece.
Mobility

Having only an average Wk of 5 and a Cg of 6 Asami's AP is best spent doing something else. Fortunately she has several methods of not only moving herself around the board but also you and your opponent's crew in the form of Grasping Strands which can pull another model 8" away into base contact with Asami and push away 6" on a Ram trigger. This allows her to move her crew around while re-positioning herself. It can also allow Asami to pull a key opposing model out of position and into the waiting arms of your beaters.
